At Home Spa Treatments
Everyone loves the lavish lifestyle of going to the spa every month and getting different needed treatments. But not all of us can afford to get the head to toe pampering we all deserve. So, I have created a list of different "At Home" services you can do on yourself straight from the mouths of the professionals!Lets start from the bottom and work our way up!
Feet
We all could use a little more love on our feet. Especially after a hard days work. Use these "At Home" spa treatments to help relieve and soothe your worn out feet!A Toothbrush Isn't Just For Your Teeth
Brush your toenails with a child's soft toothbrush like you would your teeth. Dirt, soap residue and oils collect on the nail and cuticle. "Brushing will help keep build-up from underneath the nail as well as help lessen pain in some cases." says our nail expert, Kim.
Cuticle Oil Isn't Just For Fingernails
Toenails sometimes need the moisture even more so than fingernails. Toes are exposed to harsh environments and the oil will help soften skin and at times help lessen ingrown pain. Don't have any cuticle oil at home. Use some olive oil! Coat the cuticle and use our third tip below to finish it off!Hot Towel Spa Treatment
Have extra time while applying lotion? Enjoy this soothing spa moment at home! Wet a towel with warm water and place in the microwave (1/2 minute for washcloths - 1 minute for larger towels). Wrap aching feet, knees or even hands! AAAAhhhhh!!! Applying the warm towel over freshly applied lotion will help the absorption and leave your skin silky smooth. You can even add relaxing essential oils to the towel!Body
We put our bodies through some tough stuff! Why not treat yourself to a relaxing evening at home? Follow some of these simple tips to make room for a healthier and more relaxed you!
Detox Body Soak
Our bodies especially feel abused when we are starting to or are feeling ill. This detox body soak will help your body recover from most bugs like the cold or flu.
1-2C Baking Soda
Up to 2C Epsom Salt
1TBS-1/3C Ginger Powder or Grated Ginger
- Baking Soda is said to be highly alkaline which helps rid your body from the negative affects of living in an acidic world. It also leaves your skin silky smooth!
- Epsom Salt is high in magnesium and sulfate. Epsom Salt helps flush toxins and heavy metals from the body, ease muscle pain and help eliminate harmful substances from the body among many other things!
- Ginger Powder is a great way to help your body release toxins. By adding the ginger into your water you are basically turning your bath tub in to a liquid sauna. The ginger will help your body to sweat out unwanted yuck that is stuck in our bodies making us feel ill. (Consult with your doctor first if you have any health issues or if you are using an anti-coagulant.)
Hands
We use our hands constantly all day! We put them through some pretty major stuff if you think about it! Why not treat your hands to relaxing goodness's!
Use My Chap-stick For What
Have you ever found your dry cuticles getting caught on your sheets at night or clothes during the day? Need some moisturizing but lotion isn't cutting it? Use your chap-stick! You heard me right! Your chap-stick has a thicker consistency and will stay on the cuticle better in order to soften up your cuticles! No more hangnails! (This would be perfect to use with a warm towel wrap mentioned above!)Polish, Polish, Whose Got My Polish
When selecting a polish for home use, purchase the polish in a shade lighter than you would normally get. After oxygen is introduced to the bottle, the color may oxidize and turn darker! Also, if you ever break a nail and it is in the quick use super glue to hold it together until it grows out and polish over for a smooth finish!Face
We all want beautiful airbrushed looking skin for the price of free. Unfortunately we can't have it that easily. But if you follow these simple tips at home, you can enjoy a relaxing facial at home between your regular facials.
Don't Have A Desert Face
For easy hydration at home, break off a piece of an aloe plant! (If you are allergic to aloe stay away!) Aloe is a perfect way to get a great moisturizing face mask at home. Simply break off a piece of aloe and use the gel to cover your skin. Leave on for as long as you can.
Aloe is a great moisturizer and is great for acne! It contains two hormones that provide wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties. It also helps in the aging process by improving skins natural firmness!
Spa Facial Treatment
If you have a favorite skin care mask you like to use, boost its effectiveness by using a warm wash cloth! Follow the directions from the "Hot Towel Spa Treatment" above and place the washrag on your face! You could even use the aloe mask listed above with this one! Again Essential oils would be a great idea to add to the wash cloth to breath in! (Careful not to place the oils where your eyes are!)
Hair
Can't ever get your hair to feel as soft as it does coming out of the salon? Follow these simple at home spa tips to get the same effect!
Profession Products Really Matter
Even if it is just the conditioner you are coming home with you will reap the benefits! Apply the conditioner to freshly shampooed hair and let sit! You can even put a shower cap on and sleep in it! The next morning you will wake up with super soft and silky hair! Can't afford the professional stuff? Coconut oil has plenty of benefits in its use! Simply use coconut oil instead, just make sure you have plenty of time to shampoo it out the next morning. It usually takes me two shampoos. This treatment works best if done once a month! Your stylist will thank you!
Detox Your Hair
Your hair needs a break every once in a while! Just think of all the product we put in it as well as all of the damage from the free radicals in the air and the environment we live in! Even if you can't see it, it is there!
Once a month, mix a little baking soda in your hand with your shampoo. It works best with a peppermint scrub shampoo or a clarifying shampoo. This treatment would be perfect to follow with the deep conditioning treatment listed above!
